Showman, 62, of Melcroft, formerly of Bakersville, died Sept. 5, 1999, at his home. He was born May 17, 1937, in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, a son of the late Walter D. and Mary C. (Shaulis) Showman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Lane and Duane Showman. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane Hall Showman, son Steven Showman and his wife Cindy of Friedens and daughter Belinda "Susy" Spargur and her husband James of Indian Head; four grandchildren: Ashley and Andrew Spargur and Steven Jr. and Samuel Showman; five brothers: Ashley Showman and Kenny Showman, both of Ohio, Forest Showman of Kecksburg, Raymond Showman of Meyersdale and Dennis Showman of Somerset; and two sisters: Dolores Miller of Meyersdale and Vada Harold of Rockwood. He was a graduate of the Somerset High School with the class of 1956 and lived in Melcroft for the last 41 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked through the Local #1058 Labor Union and was currently serving his fourth year as a Saltlick Township Supervisor. He was also a member of the Laurel Ridge Sportsman's Association and was a member of the Millertown Community Church. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kerry Johnson and the Rev. David Huey officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Saltlick Township. Daily American, September 7, 1999 [S1506]
