He was born Dec. 4, 1893, in Bakersville, son of the late Frank and Lilly (Gardner) Showman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the former Viola May Bittner and three brothers. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Leona Ankney of Somerset RD 6; and Miss Mabel G. Showman of Somerset. He was a member of the Bakersville Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, was a veteran of World War I, and was former owner and operator along with Mrs. Showman of Green Meadow Tea Room. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Walter Startzel officiating.
