Born April 25, 1906, in Shade Township, Somerset County, son of Charles and Jenny (Peterman) Shreffler. Preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Survived by wife, the former Verna Shroyer; and these children: George E., married to Wanda Keim, of Jerome; Donna Lee, at home; Donald D., married to Louise Price of Hollsopple; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Brother of Elsie Boyer, Arvilla Whetzel, Joan Talbert, Mae Laurer, Charles Sr. and Kenneth, all of Somerset. Member of the Nazarene Church in Jerome. Death breaks marriage union of 48 years. Coal miner for half a century. Retired from Kohler Coal Company. Member U.M.W.A 1742 of Jenners. Family receiving friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home in Davidsville were prayer services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday followed by funeral services 2 p.m. at the Nazarene Church in Jerome were remains will lie in state from noon until time of service, the Rev.
