Born April 30, 1921, in Fairhope, a son of the late Jacob and Rose (Clites) Shroyer. Also preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters. Surviving are Hazel K. (Winebrenner) Shroyer, his wife of 55 years, whom he married Dec. 4, 1947; two sons, Harvey J. Shroyer Jr. and wife Marsha (Peck), Fairhope, and Billy P. Shroyer and wife Alice (Freas), Berlin; one brother, Robert Shroyer, Fairhope; four sisters, Edna Helmsetter, LaVale, Md., Mattie Riall, Salisbury, Md., and Rosella Davey and husband John, Ellerslie, Md.; six grandchildren, Melanie Michael and husband Eric, Cumberland, Md., Hayley Berlardi and husband Michael, Somerset, Jesse Shroyer and wife Michelle, California, Pa., Angela Nunamaker and husband Todd and Andrew Shroyer, all of Berlin, and Jason Reese, Fairhope; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shroyer was a retired B&O Railroad trackman with 42 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he participated in assaults on Rome and the Arno Valley, Normandy and the Rhineland. He attended Fairhope Community Church. Viewing was held Sunday, and will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairhope Community Church, Main Street, Fairhope. The Revs. Bradley Reider, Terry Campbell and Leroy Logsdon officiating. Military honors will be conferred graveside by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Interment will be in Comps Cemetery, Hyndman. Daily American, December 30, 2002 [S1541]
