He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. A native of Fairhope, he was a son of the late Jacob and Rose (Clites) Shroyer. He is survived by his wife, the former Pearl Emerick; a daughter, Mrs. James Cummins, Fairhope; a son, T/Sgt. Blaine Leroy Shroyer, with the Air Force at Gettysburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ira and Harvey Shroyer, both of Fairhope; James Shroyer, Fairhope RD 1; and Robert Shroyer, Baltimore, Md. Eight sisters also survive. They are: Mrs. Lillian Klavuhn, Cumberland; Mrs. Ruth Shumaker, Fairhope; Mrs. Nellie Close and Mrs. Rosella Davey, both of Ellerslie, Md.; Mrs. Goldie Emerick, Hyndman RD 1; Mrs. Edna Helmstetter, Cumberland RD 1; Mrs. Fairy Starkey, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Mattie Riall, Salisbury, Md. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with Rev. Leroy Logsdon officiating. Interment in Comps Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, August 8, 1974 [S1561]
