He was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Johnstown. Son of Louis Sr. and Mary (Pecar) Shubert. Preceded in death by parents; son, Gary Lee; brother John; sisters, Julia Greathouse, Regina Kraylik and Margaret Kada. Survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Virginia Ginter; son Jan, married to the former Kimberly Berkebile, of Stoystown; grandchildren: Jan Michael and Amy Lynn; also brother Joseph Shubert of Stoystown. World War II Army Veteran having served three years overseas. Retired from North American Coal Co. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Wilbur. Hooversville VFW Post 7565, Stoystown American Legion Post 257 and Quemahoning Rod and Gun Club. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing at Otterbein UM Church from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. William Blair officiating. Interment Otterbein Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Otterbein UM Church, 594 Wilbur Road, Stoystown, Pa. 15563. Legion service at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
