Witnesses said that the boat appeared to upset when it was caught in the backwash of a larger craft being operated on the lake. People on the shore saw Shultz struggle for a few minutes, then disappear under the water before anyone could get to him. The water is about 60 to 100 feet deep in that part of the lake. For more than 30 hours and all through Sunday night rescue parties, made up principally of firemen from Confluence, Uniontown, Addison, Brownsville and other communities, including a unit from Deep Creek, Md., dragged the artificial lake for the body. The services of a deep-sea diver from McKeesport was also enlisted. It was about 9 o'clock Monday night when, at last, grappling hooks in the hands of George Wright, a member of the Addison fire company, finally brought the body of Shultz to the surface. It was retrieved close to the spot where Shultz was last seen. The body was removed to the Charles Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence where the cause of death was investigated by Coroner A. M. Uphouse. Mr. Shultz came to Confluence about five years ago, going into the Clover Farm Store. Later he bought the Holiday building on Latrobe Street housing the Acme store and several living apartments on the second floor. He had his own shop in the basement of the building where he conducted a tire retreading business and dealt in paints and hardware. After the Yough Dam lake became a reality Mr. Shultz became a motor boat enthusiast and started building boats. The boat from which he was drowned he had built and owned in partnership with Stanton Metz, who did not accompany Shultz when he launched the boat on Sunday. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., at the Gleason Funeral Home, Uniontown. Mr. Shultz is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred (Shipley) Shultz; one son, Frank Jr.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Shultz, and one brother, Albert, all of Hopwood. The Rev. John Lambertson of the Hopwood Methodist Church conducted the services assisted by the Rev. Guy West of the Uniontown Church of the Brethren. Interment was made in the Ross Cemetery in Hopwood.
