Shultz, 78, of Somerset died July 15, 1999, at her residence. Born May 7, 1921, in Somerset Township, she is the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mabel Harriet (Schrock) Shultz. Also preceded in death by a brother, Lester E. Shultz. Survived by sisters: Mildred M. Shultz and Thelma S. Shultz, both of Somerset. Also a number of cousins and good friend, Harold Lambert. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she was Sunday School secretary and Sunday School teacher for many years. Also served on church council, G.M.E.S. and women's fellowship. Former leader of the children's choir; served in various other church capacities. 1940 graduate of Somerset High School. 1944 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers college. Elementary school teacher at Berlin Brothersvalley for 35 years. Worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney store in Somerset for 9 1/2 years after retiring from school-teaching. She was appointed State Deputy Master for Somerset County Granges and was the first woman in the history of Somerset County Pomona Grange to hold that position. She was the past master, lecturer and youth chairman of the Somerset County Pomona Grange and served six years on the Youth Committee of the Pennsylvania State Grange. Treasurer of the Appalachian Gem and Mineral club. An avid bowler in various bowling leagues. Friends will be received from 7-9 Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Glenn Sadler officiating. Interment, the Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Union Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501 or Somerset "In Touch" Hospice 1590 N. Center Ave., Suite 111, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
