Shultz, 92, of Somerset, died Aug. 20, 2002, at Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate. Born Sept. 23, 1909, in Somerset Township, daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mabel Harriet (Schrock) Shultz. Also preceded in death by sisters, Thelma and Mabel and a brother, Lester. Survived by a number of cousins. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she served as director of Christian education for 20 years, retiring in 1988, taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, ordained and installed as elder in 1959 and served the church in many other ways. Graduate of Somerset High School, State Teachers College, Indiana and received her master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1943. Member of the Somerset Grange where she served as lecturer, lady assistant, secretary and was the first lady Master of Somerset Grange. Also served many other offices at the local and state level. Retired school teacher from the Somerset Area Schools. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park will be private. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa., 15501. Somerset County Pomona Grange will hold a service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
