Shumaker, 77, Somerset, died May 4, 2004. Born Feb. 5, 1927, in Indian Head, he is the son of the late Alvin and Etta Mae (Ritenour) Shumaker. Also preceded in death by wife, Betty J. (King) Shumaker; son, Donald and grandson, Larry Shumaker Jr. Survived by his stepmother, Mae Shumaker of Grantsville, Md.; children: Larry L. Shumaker and wife Mayme, Norton, W.Va., Mrs. Jeffrey (Linda K.) Walker, Berlin, Ronald Wayne Shumaker and wife Nancy, Somerset and Mrs. John (Carol J.) Miller, Rockwood; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Brother of: Oden Shumaker and Betty Jane Baer, both of Somerset, David Shumaker, Norfolk, Va., Herbert Shumaker, Somerset, Abraham Shumaker, Somerset, Alvin Shumaker Jr., Bittinger, Md., Robert Shumaker, Grantsville, Md., Harold Shumaker, North Carolina, Bonnie Miller, Grantsville, Md., and Helen Satcho, Pittsburgh. Member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, VFW Post 554, the Laurel Ridge Sportsmen Club, the North American Fishing Club and the Teamsters Union. Retired truck driver for Interstate Trucking and a veteran of World War II. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dennis A. Fetter officiating. Friends will also be received from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday in the church. Interment Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N.
