Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Meyersdale. Son of the late Daniel and Emma (Tressler) Shumaker. Also preceded in death by three brothers: Howard, William and Clarence. Survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Lillian K. Stephens; four sons: Frederick, Bedford; Michael A., married to the former Susan Brocht, Meyersdale; Stephen H., married to the former Susan Romesburg, Johnstown; and Philip D., married to the former Monique Hunkele, Irwin. Six grandchildren: Jennifer, Michael II, Kristina, Laura, Katherine and Elizabeth. Brother of Robert Shumaker, Meyersdale, and Mary Brant, Uniontown. Member of the Amity United Church of Crist [sic], Meyersdale. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Member of American Legion Post 112 and Maple Leaf Rod and Gun Club. Associated with Meyersdale Little League for 36 years as a coach and umpire. Former member of the Meyersdale Borough Council. Former owner of the Stephens Dry Cleaners, Meyersdale. Retired rural mail carrier. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Msgr. Timothy J. Swope officiating. Interment, SS. Philip and James Cemetery, Meyersdale. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the In-Touch Hospice, 651 S. Center Ave., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
