    Iva Fern Shumaker, 90, of Mount Sidney, Va., formerly of Somerset, passed on July 9,
  2007, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Va. Born June 6, 1917, in Listie, she is
  the daughter of the late Walter E. and Cora (Dickey) Shaffer. She was a member of the
  Milford United Methodist Church in Somerset and attended the Lebanon Church of the
  Brethren in Sidney with her daughter, with whom she resided for the past 13 years. In
  addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L.
  Shumaker; brother, Galen Shaffer; and sister, Velma Romesberg. She is survived by her
  children, Virginia Kimmel and husband, Robert of Mount Sidney, Va., and Roger L. Shumaker
  of Somerset; sisters, Grace Shumaker and husband, Forrest, Virginia Harned and husband
  Fred, and Erla Jean and husband Floyd, all of Somerset; Violet Romesberg and husband Paul
  of Charlotte, N.C., and Dorothy Romesberg of Rockwood; sister-in-law, Jean Shaffer of
  Berlin; brothers, Walter Shaffer Jr. of Rockwood and Melvin Shaffer of Berlin; and
  special niece Joyce Morocco of Somerset. She is also survived by grandchildren Scott
  Kimmel of Mount Sidney, Va., and Laurel and James Shumaker of Somerset; and
  great-grandchildren Madison and Morgan Kimmel of Mount Sidney. Friends will be received
  from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A service will be held 11
  a.m. Friday at the Milford United Methodist Church, pastor Mark Ongley officiating.
  Interment at Union Cemetery, New Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
  may be sent to Milford United Methodist Church at 368 Bando Road, Somerset, PA. 15501.
