W. Shumaker, died last Thursday afternoon at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Oran Jacobs of Jenners No. 2. She had been bedfast since February and had been in ill health for three years. A daughter of Richard and Mary (Nedrow) Housel, she was born on Aug. 1, 1887, near Salisbury. In addition to her husband she leaves four children - Lee, Chester, Pa.; Mrs. Ruth Jacobs, mentioned; Cecil, Jenners No. 2, and Alvin, Champion, Pa. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lydia Sipple, Salisbury; Mrs. Ida Hoover, Somerset; Mrs. Irvin Brown, Boswell; Mrs. Eva Brown, Somerset; Mrs. Edith Akers, Frostburg, Md.; Curtis Housel, Boswell; Oscar, Hyasota; Ray, Somerset; Roy, Frostburg, Md.; Clarence, Mt. Savage, Md.; Mrs. Viola Durr, Frostburg, and John Housel, Salisbury. A brief prayer service was conducted at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Jacobs home, followed by rites at 2:30 o'clock at the Salisbury Church of the Brethren by Rev. J. M. Geary, pastor of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Salisbury, under the direction of Jay O. Hay, Boswell mortician.
