Shumaker, 49, Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly April 15, 2001. Born April 3, 1952 in Pittsburgh, a son of Charles S. and Leona (Doeing) Shumaker. Survived by his wife Vicky (Landis) formerly of Meyersdale, whom he married Oct. 15, 1981 in Winchester, Va.; four daughters, Marylee, Melanie, Katrina and Kellene and two sons, Scott James and Shawn, all at home; mother, Leona Shumaker of Glenshaw; and two brothers, Jeffrey Shumaker, Tennessee and Andrew Shumaker, California. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg. Member of North Hills Lodge 716 of Free & Accepted Mason of Pittsburgh. He was employed in correctional health care for Wexford Health Sources Inc. and formerly had an emergency medical practice at Altoona Hospital. A 1970 graduate of Shaler High School, Pittsburgh and a 1974 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor of science degree in microbiology, and where he received an undergraduate research award from the American Society for Microbiology. Earned his doctorate of medicine in 1978 from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and his post-graduate residency was served in family practice at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He served with the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel during Desert Storm and had five years of service. He enjoyed jogging, canoeing, nordic skiing and playing the flute. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Santella Funeral Home. Memorial service at 2 p.m. May 6 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg.
