Born April 2, 1912, in Bedford. Son of Ada Shoemaker. Preceded in death by mother; first wife, the former Mary Lou Weaver, who died Feb. 26, 1965; and brother, Benjamin F. Shoemaker. Survived by second wife, the former Jewel Cort Lucas, to whom he was married 29 years. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. A 1931 graduate of Johnstown High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Owner of S & A Chevrolet of Somerset from 1936 to 1981; partner of the former Downtowner Motor Hotel of Johnstown; director of GTE for 26 years from 1953-1979; member and past president of Somerset Country Club. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev.
