His death was caused by a heart attack. His health had been failing for a year or more, but he was able to do light work most of the time. He was about town the day before he died, and no one even suspected that he was ill, or that his death was so near at hand. He was a son of the late Jacob and Margaret Null Shunk, who located in Salisbury some time during the "seventies," coming from Stonycreek Township. The deceased, like his father, worked many years in the mines of the Salisbury coal region, and at various other kinds of labor. He was of an easy-going, kindly disposition, always ready to do anyone a good turn that needed it, with no thought of pay. Mr. Shunk is survived by his wife, Nancy, a daughter of the late Paul and Louvina Deal Werner of Greenville Township, and by these children: Edward and Mary, wife of John Baer, of Salisbury; Margaret, wife of Harvey Baker of Pocahontas; Elsie, wife of Solomon Baker of Hyasota, and Hubert, at home. The funeral service was held at the family home, on Charliss Street, last Saturday, at 1:15 p.m., and was conducted by Rev. A. M. Wright. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Salisbury, under the direction of Mortician W. C. Price, of Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, May 30, 1940
