Born June 2, 1924, in Dawson, Fayette County, son of John and Jennie (Matese) Shuster. Preceded in death by parents; infant son, Louis; brothers, John, Frank, Joe, Steve and Ed; and sister, Jennie Shuster. Survived by wife of 57 years, former Susan Krassnoski, children: Robert, married to former Debbie Kohan, Brooksville, Fla.; David, married to former Peggy Sample, Hollsopple; Suzanne, married to Todd Trachok, Canal Fulton, Ohio; and Juliana, married to Bill Osselburn, Somerset; grandchildren: Tanya Devine, Robbie and Eli Shuster, Amanda Trachok and Heather Briskey; great-grandchildren: Arianna, Ethan and Rayona Shuster; sisters, Mary Slepicka, Camp Hill; and Anne Shuster, Havertown; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. As a young man he was a member of Civil Conservation Corps and was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the European and African theaters of operation. Retired coal miner for former Jandy Coal Co., Windber. Lifetime member of Hollsopple Post 8861, VFW; and Jerome Post 802, American Legion. Also a member of Hollsopple Sportsmens Club and UMWA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who enjoyed being in the outdoors. Friends received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Route 403 and Church Road, Davidsville, where Panachida will be sung at 2 p.m. Friday, Father George Dursa officiating.
