Siegner At Youngstown, O. R.R. Yard Conductor Struck and Killed by Unscheduled Train John H. Siegner, 41, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Siegner of Meyersdale R.D. 3, was killed when he got in the way of a train in the B & O R. R. yards in Youngstown, O., about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Mr. Siegner was employed by the B & O as a yard conductor. He had just come from the tower and was crossing the tracks with a message, when a U.S. Steel Company train came through and struck him, while he apparently did not observe that he was walking on the same track. Mr. Siegner was born on Feb. 2, 1904, near Meyersdale. Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, the former Vila Christner, and nine brothers and sisters - Mrs. Joseph Mazda and Eugene and Eleanor Siegner, Cleveland, O.; Irene and Carl, at home; Lee, Aurora, O.; Mrs. Verna Phillippi, Philadelphia; Mrs. George Pfeiffer, Cumberland, Md., and Mrs. Karl Dietle, Salisbury. His body was received Tuesday afternoon at the Konhaus Funeral Home, where services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Kenneth Ashman, pastor of the Main Street Brethren Church, and Rev. Sherwood Keiser, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Interment in Union Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, December 6, 1945
