A very pathetic bereavement occurred in this place, by the death of Emma, the 13 year old daughter of Albert Siehl, of Plum Bottom, on Wednesday morning at three o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Eisler, in Somerset, resulting from an accident. The little girl for she was not large for her age on last Monday evening a week ago was carrying a child of her sister aged two years, about all she could do, and when she came to the foot bridge, very narrow, across Flaughtery Creek at the foot of North mother accompanying her with a street, which leads to their home, her grandchild, Emma fell off the plank leading to the bridge part and very thoughtfully as she was falling threw, the child upon some sod, the latter not being injured at all, but in doing so, she was unable to protect herself and struck her head on a sharp rock, causing quite a gash above the left eye and producing a flow of considerable blood; the little heroic girl fainted. The mother called for help and Mrs. Meyers, who lives near where the accident occurred rushed to assist getting Emma home. The father heard the cry of distress and came also. When they got Emma home she was quite weak from loss of blood. The next morning she felt better and went to Dr. Wenzel who closed the wound using one stitch, and but little was thought of the accident. On Wednesday of last week Emma went with her mother to Somerset to take care of the children of her sister while her mother continued her journey to Johnstown to be with her daughter, Mrs. Eisler who is critically ill in a hospital in that place. On Monday night of this week blood poisoning developed and a little later, lockjaw which resulted in her untimely death. Her father and mother were both with her at the time of her death. Besides her parents, one brother, Henry of Williamsport, and one sister Minnie survive. The deceased was an active member of the Reformed Sunday School and was unusually bright. The remains were brought to her home in this place last evening. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, services to be conducted by Rev. Dr. Truxal. Meyersdale Commercial, Aug. 31, 1916
