   Richard A. "Dick" Simmons, 84, Boswell, died July 8, 2008, at Somerset Hospital. Born
  April 4, 1924, in Tatesville, Bedford County, the son of Perry J. and Elmira G. (Ritchey)
  Simmons. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Ella J. Simmons. Survived by wife of 51
  years, the former Mary Louise Hershberger; and brother, Donald P. Simmons, and his
  companion, Shirley Sansbury, Hopewell Township, Bedford County. A 1943 graduate of the
  former Robert P. Smith Vocational School, Bedford County. A U.S. Army veteran of World
  War II. Retired bulldozer operator for the former Coal Junction Coal Co. Attended the Mt.
  Laurel United Church of Christ, member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren, Bedford
  County. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m.
  Thursday at the Bethel Cemetery, Hopewell Township, Bedford County. The Rev. Dr. Joseph
  M. Beer officiating. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Boswell.
  In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be sent to the Mt. Laurel United
  Church of Christ, 1207 Keysertown Road, Boswell, PA 15531.
