Simpson, aged 59, a pioneer resident of Windber and for many years an outstanding citizen of that community, expired suddenly about 10 o'clock last Friday night at his home following a heart attack, superinduced by acute indigestion. He apparently was enjoying good health until the time he was stricken. His wife was visiting in Philadelphia at the time. She arrived in Windber early Saturday morning. Mr. Simpson was closely identified with the financial interests of the Berwind White Coal Mining Company. He was president of the Windber Trust Company, and was closely affiliated with banking institutions at Scalp Level, Central City, Houtzdale, and at Berwind, W.Va. While his chief interests were in banking enterprises, Mr. Simpson served in many other capacities in the business world, as well as in civic positions. For more than 30 years he was a member of the board of trustees of the Windber Presbyterian Church and was always active in the work of that denomination. Mr. Simpson was born in Huntingdon, Pa., son of the late Attorney and Mrs. J. Randolph Simpson, one of the prominent families of that place. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Nellie Fisher, of McAllisterville, Pa., and two sons, Randolph and Richard, both at home. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 11 in the Windber Presbyterian Church. Burial at Huntingdon, Monday afternoon. Meyersdale Republican, November 10, 1932
