(Baker) (Bird) 10/09/06 Daily American Darlene B. "Bird" (Baker) Sines, 47, Meyersdale, lost a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer on Oct. 7, 2006, at Somerset Hospital. Born July 21, 1959, in Meyersdale, the daughter of Robert E. and Thelma (Yutzy) Baker, Pocahontas. Preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Sines; a brother, Keith Leroy Baker; maternal grand-parents, John L. and Alice Evora Yutzy; and paternal grandparents, Clyde E. and Irene Baker. Also survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert B. Sines, and three children, Andrew R. Sines, and his wife, Christina; Chadd A. Sines, and his fiancˇe, Melissa Newpher and Erin N. Sines, and her fiancˇ, Jason Byer, all of Meyersdale. A sister of Dianne, wife of Roger Schrock, Meyersdale and Lynn R. Baker and his wife, Maria, Hummelstown. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews. In addition to a large and loving family, Darlene will be sadly missed by her many special friends and co-workers. She retired from Meyersdale Area School District as a teacher's aide after 12 years of dedicated service. A 1977 graduate of Meyersdale Area High School, she attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she played basketball. Darlene was known for a wide variety of handcrafted items and the beautiful flower beds that surrounded her property. Friends will be received 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas. The Rev.
