Sines, 28, of Friendsville, died May 7, 1975, in the burn unit of West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, as the result of an explosion of a fuel storage tank on Thursday, April 24. Sines was a passenger in a truck operated by Samuel Eugene Thomas, 50, who died at the scene. The truck explosion and resultant fire were blamed on gasoline, which had leaked from the tank, falling on a muffler. A native of Friendsville, Mr. Sines was a son of Mrs. Grace Sines VanSickle and Freeman Sines, Friendsville. He was a Vietnam veteran and a member of Friendsville WOW Camp. Besides his mother and father, he is also survived by his wife, the former Alice I. Reese' two brothers, Karol Myers and Vernon Sines, and a half sister, Miss Donna Van Sickle, all of Friendsville. Funeral service was conducted Saturday afternoon in Sand Springs Church of God with Rev. Jack Gray officiating. Interment in Blooming Rose Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
