Born March 27, 1936, in Lincoln Township, a son of the late James Earl and Tillie Mae (Ogline) Sipe. He is also preceded in death by his brothers John, George and Morris Sipe, and sisters, Marian Shaulis and Bessie Stemmler. Survived by his loving wife, Asenath M. (Hoffman) Sipe, who would have celebrated 49 wonderful years of marriage on July 23; daughters, Artrena, married to Randall Hay, Jennifer, married to Jeff Snyder, and Roxann, married to Craig Eppley; grandchildren, Nichole Hampe, Justin Eppley, Valerie and Jason Evans, Carissa Ritenour, and Bruce Hay; great-grand-son, Jake Hampe; sisters, Nancy Gastley, Laura Mae Tressler and Mrs. Donald (Sarah) Hauger; sister-in-law, Alice Sipe; and many nieces and nephews. Attended St. Francis-In-The-Fields Church in Somerset. Retired employee of Lincoln Contracting and Equipment and Somerset Door and Column. An active member and former president of the Sipesville Lions Club and RSVP. He was a member and volunteer at the Somerset Historical Society. A long-time interpreter at the cider press exhibit at Mountain Craft Days, and was a member of the Living History Organization for the Advancement of Foodway (LHOAF). Calvin's greatest joys in life came from his family and friends, camping, hunting, carpentry, trail riding on the golf cart and helping others. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. The Sipesville Lions Club will hold a sevice at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis-In-The-Fields Church. Father Mark Zimmerman officiating. There will be one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment at Sipesville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Francis-In-The-Fields Church at 2081 Husband Road, Somerset, PA 15501.
