Sipe, 93, died Jan. 8, 2000 at Memorial Medical Center. She was a resident of the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, since May 1999, but was formerly from Carpenters Park Road, Davidsville. Born Oct. 22, 1906 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Stephen and Jane "Jennie" (Williams) Howard. Preceded in death by husband, Harold T., who died Sept. 24, 1968, infant son, Kenneth, and brothers and sisters. Survived by daughters, Betty Jane, married to Karl Coughenour, Hollsopple Road, Edna Irene, married to Louis Hersh, Carpenters Park Road; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Sister of Isabelle Lorensic, Tire Hill, Mildred Schladweiler, Carlisle, Hazel Krise, Johnstown and brother Harold, Alabama. She was a former Notary Public and co-owner with her husband of Sipe's Store. She loved reading God's Word and read the Bible through 26 times, and was a prayer warrior. She was the oldest member of Faith United Methodist Church. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, where Rev. Valerie Conrad-Dembinsky will hold services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery. Daily American, January 10, 2000 [S1819]
