Born October 7, 1930, in St. Paul, he was the son of the late Dale Edgar and Edna Pearl (Bowser) Sipple. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Francis and James Sipple. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Ellen (Wiley) Sipple; one daughter, Donna K. Gibbs, Grantsville; one grandson, William Dale Gibbs, Grantsville; three brothers: George Sipple and wife Donna, West Salisbury; Joseph Sipple and wife Diane, Frostburg, Md.; Forrest Sipple and wife Tiny, Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sipple was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He retired after 35 years of service as a shrink wrap and lift truck operator at Harbison-Walker Refractories (now Clayburn) Grantsville. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served on the U.S.S. Siboney and the U.S.S. Midway. He was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion, where he was a past commander, financial officer, chairman of the bingo committee and member of the Boys State committee. Mr. Sipple was also a past member of the executive committee of the American Legion Department of Maryland. He was also a lifetime member of the Salisbury V.F.W., member of Woodman of the World Camp 45 and transported cars for Billy Bender Chevrolet. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery, where military graveside rites were accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
