  SITTLER
  
  Edward L. Sittler Jr., 70, of Adams Lane, Uniontown, died Dec. 26,
  1978, at the Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Born April 21, 1908,
  in Greensburg, Pa., a son of the late Edward L. and Stella C.
  (Sheldrake) Sittler.  He was a life-long member of the Central
  Christian Church, Uniontown; served with the U.S. Army during WW II;
  life underwriter for the Mutual of New York Life Insurance Company;
  former mayor of Uniontown; former member of the U.S. House of
  Representatives; former Fayette County Commissioner; member of the
  Uniontown YMCA board of directors; and the Uniontown Rotary Club. 
  Survived by wife, Harriet (Long) Sittler of Uniontown; daughter, Mrs.
  Jane Sittler Roberts; son, Richard Edward Sittler of Pittsburgh; two
  grandchildren; and two sisters: Miss Ruth E. Sittler of Cambridge,
  Mass., and Miss Betty E. Sittler of Washington, D.C.  The family will
  receive friends in the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home, 80 Morgantown
  St., Uniontown, Thursday form 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9
  p.m.  Services will be held Saturday, Dec 30, at 11:30 a.m. in the
  Central Christian Church, Uniontown.  Interment, Sylvan Heights
  Cemetery, Uniontown.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
  contributions be made to the Uniontown YMCA building fund or charity
  of choice.
