Born April, 17, 1904, near Mill Run, Pa. A daughter of the late Levi E. and Jeannie (Long) Tissue. She graduated from California State Normal School and began an elementary teaching career in Fayette and Somerset counties that lasted for 34 years. She retired in 1971. She lived most of her life in Confluence. Taught in the Turkeyfoot Valley School System and belonged to the Turkeyfoot Valley Baptist Church where she was organist for many years. Preceded in death by her husband, Abram D. Skinner, in 1975. Also preceded by a brother, Leland Tissue, and a grandson, Theodore Wines. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Wines; a son-in-law Noel Wines; grandchildren: Christine (Wines) Ricco of Panama, Ohio; Randolph Wines, Cleveland, Ohio, and Leslie (Wines) Elia, Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Also four great-grandchildren and four sisters: Gladys Johnson of Lyndhurst, Ohio; Wilma Peters, Moreland Hills, Ohio; Hilda Bryner, Dunbar, and Madeline VanNosdeln of Mill Run, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery in Mill Run.
