Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Gorseinon, Wales, son of William A. and Miriam (Davies) Slade. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Amelia C. Ritchie; brothers: William A., Idris Ivor "Ed" and Lawrence; sisters: Eveline Mary Ahlgren, Gladys Maude Steele, Ada Eileen Whitehead, Eunice Miriam Kerr, and Hilda May Bickerstaff. Survived by sons: Rev. Duane C. Slade married to the former Muriel Markle, Stoystown RD 2, and William A. Slade, married to the former Nancy Brackney, Coldwater, Mich. Four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Member of Garden City Presbyterian Church. Attended Centennial United Methodist Church, Johnstown, where he sang in the choir. Member of Wayne (Michigan) Lodge 112, F. & A.M., and Detroit Consistory and Shrine. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Centennial U.M. Church, North Fork Reservoir Road, RD 4, Johnstown, Rev. James Strohm. Interment, Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport.
