Slaubaugh, who resided at West Salisbury during the last few years, died Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 1931, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 13 days. Death came to him at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. E. Haning at Springs. He was the oldest citizen of Elk Lick Township, with the probable exception of Michael Knecht, also a resident of West Salisbury, and about the same age as Mr. Slaubaugh. Mr. Slaubaugh enjoyed good health to a remarkable degree for one so old, until within the last few years when the infirmities of old age gradually caused him to become more and more feeble, and kept him in his room for longer periods until he finally passed on to the spirit world, loved and respected by all who knew him for his kindly disposition. He was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Slaubaugh, who were the parents of thirteen children, of whom he was the last to survive. He was born in Garrett County, Md., where he spent the greater portion of his youth. In 1867 he was united in marriage with Miss Kathryn Schrock, and to them was born one son, Samuel. His wife died Feb. 5, 1872, and in 1874 he remarried, this time to Miss Kathryn Shoemaker, by whom he had one daughter, Amanda, wife of W. E. Haning. He is survived by both of his children, the son residing at Canton, Ohio. Mr. Slaubaugh is also survived by twelve grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Maple Glen Amish Mennonite Church, near Grantsville, Md., Thursday forenoon, the 16th inst., conducted by Rev. G. D. Miller, assisted by Revs. Roy Otto and C. W. Bender. Interment was made in the cemetery at Springs, Pa. Meyersdale Republican, July 23, 1931
