  SLAYTON
  
  Vernie Virginia Slayton, 79, of 262 Romania Road, Meyersdale, died
  Oct. 18, 2002, at her residence.  Born Jan. 11, 1923, in Mill Creek,
  W.Va., she is a daughter of the late Darr and Susan Higgins.  She was
  preceded in death by her husband, George W. Slayton Sr., Sept. 2, 1976
  and a son Arthur J. Slayton, in 1973.  She is survived by one son,
  George W., Slayton, Jr. and wife Diane, Salisbury; two daughters,
  Mary Baughman, Somerset and Betty Noble and husband, Gary, Ocala,
  Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  Friends will be
  received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Newman Funeral Home,
  Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, where services will be
  conducted at 12 p.m. Sunday with Pastor John Yodel officiating. 
  Interment, Salisbury Cemetery.  Expression of sympathy may be
  directed to In Touch Hospice.
