"Jim" 08/27/08 Daily American Clayton G. "Jim" Sleek, 85, Jerome, died Aug. 26, 2008, at Country Manor Personal Care Home. Born Dec. 12, 1922, in Hooversville, son of Homer and Amy (Ashbrook) Sleek. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Olive J. Bowlin; son, Gary; and sister, Janet Miller. Survived by children, Jimmy, married to the former Donna Kalp, Jones Mills; Gregg, married to the former Bonnie Miller, Jerome; Paul, married to the former Andrea Durham, Somerset; Homer, married to the former Beth Slope, Somerset; Carol, married to Martin Gross, Harrisburg; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother of Vivian Yost, Delaware; Dorothy Bostic, Florida; Marlene Oppy, North Carolina; and Earl Sleek, Johnstown. A 1940 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School and a World War II Army veteran. Founder of Terrace Lanes Bowling, Jerome. Member of American Legion, Somerset, and 101st Screaming Eagles Fraternity. He attended Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Jerome, and was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Additional viewing from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Jerome. The Rev. Roger Forry officiating. Interment church cemetery.
