Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Coal Center, Washington County. Son of Dail and Ann (Johnson) Sloan. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Joan Wooldridge. Survived by wife, the former Betty Jean Arnold, to whom he was married to [sic] for 36 years. Children: Mrs. Peter H. (Kimberly) Musser, of Eldersburg, Md.; and Miss Marsha L. Sloan, of Pittsburgh. Brother of Arthur Sloan, of California, Pa., and Mrs. Marie Ulens, of Pimoa Creek, N.C. Member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, F.&A.M. Lodge, California, Pa., Pittsburgh Consistory. Also a member of numerous professional and civic organizations. 1945 graduate of Charleroi High School, B.S. in 1952 from California State College; M.Ed. in 1956 from West Virginia University; Superintendent Certification in 1969 from the University of Pittsburgh. World War II Veteran US Navy. Superintendent of Somerset Area Schools for 10 years, retiring in 1987. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr., officiating. No viewing at the church. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
