Sloan, wife of George E. Sloan, residing on a farm near Grantsville, died in Hazel McGilvery Hospital on Monday, June 18, of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Sloan has been in poor health for about 25 years, and had been under a doctor's care from time to time during those years. She was admitted to the hospital several days before her death. She was born at Berkley's Mill on June 15, 1883, daughter of Chauncey and Henrietta (Corpening) Bowman, and was aged 62 years and 3 days at her death. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cora Grove and Mrs. Carrie Shirley, both of Cresaptown, Md.; and three brothers, George G. Bowman, of Salisbury; Edison Bowman, Cresaptown, and Clinton Bowman, living near Will's Church, Somerset Twp. Funeral services this (Thursday) afternoon at her home, Rev. P. M. Naff, pastor of the Brethren Church of Cresaptown, officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Salisbury, in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, June 21, 1945
