Slovik, 87, Bern Township, native of Windber and formerly of St. Simmons Island, Ga., died Jan. 26, 2007, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township. Born in Windber, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Korzuchowska) Brzana. She was the widow of Walter F. Slovik, who died Nov. 5, 1986. Also preceded in death by parents and three sisters, Barbara Horwath, Theresa Venarini and Helen Bonitz. Survived by two sons, James F. Slovik, Bern Township, Walter J. Slovik, Ruidoso N.M., and a daughter, Susan M. Valoroso, Hauppauge, Long Island, N.Y., and nine grandchildren. Also survived by four brothers, Thomas Brzana, Windber; John Brzana, Inkster, Mich.; Joseph Brzana, Elton; and Michael Brzana, Dearborn, Mich.; three sisters, Elizabeth Brida, Shilo, N.J.; Sophie Cerwinsky, Windber; and Hedwig Carrara, Freedom. She was an office worker for a garment company before retirement. She was a member of St. William's Parish, Brunswick, Ga. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, 1015 Graham Avenue, Windber. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. The Very Rev. Leonard E. Voytek, V.F., celebrant. Interment in St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. The Klee Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements in Shillington.
