"Bill" Sluss Jr., 76, of Frostburg, MD, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1990, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD. Born Sept. 29, 1913, in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late William W. Sluss Sr. and Nellie (Hamill) Sluss. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a retired executive director of the Frostburg Housing Authority and formerly served as a street commissioner and police commissioner for the city of Frostburg. A master sergeant in the United States Army, he was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, MD; a 40-year member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion; a life member of the Frostburg Lions Club and Frostburg Lodge 470, BPO Elks; and a member of Frostburg Council 1442, Knights of Columbus; and the El Fidel Club. Mr. Sluss was a volunteer at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, and had accumulated 7,000 volunteer hours. Surviving are his widow, Frances (Bauer) Sluss; one son, William W. Sluss III, Eldersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Lois DiRoto, Baltimore MD; and Mrs. Kay Feigley, Grantsville, MD; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body was donated to the West Virginia University Medical Center for medical research. A memorial Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church by Msgr. John L.
