  Carlo "Drago" Smaila, 70, of 118 School Ave., Jerome, died the
  evening of July 21, 1993, at Windber Hospice.  Born July 9, 1923, in
  Lipa, Italy (now Croatia).  Son of Johannes and Johanna (Kalcic)
  Smaila.  Preceded in death by parents; brother, Nino; sister,
  Valeria.  Survived by wife, the former Stefanie Smaila, and these
  children: John, married to Cynthia K. Bittner of Meyersdale; Frank,
  married to Laurel Buckley of Phoenix, Az., and Kathy, wife of Stephen
  Spack of Johnstown.  Also grandson, JJ. Smaila.  Brother of Emilio of
  Lipa, Croatia.  Member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Jerome; Jerome
  Nest 556, Polish Falcons of America, and Elizabeth (N.J.) Teamsters
  Local 560.  Observed 46th wedding anniversary on April 12, 1993. 
  Retired driver for Wilson Freight Co.  Friends were received Thursday
  evening and will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at
  Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where wake service will
  be held at 3 p.m. Friday.  Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
  Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Rev. Father Conrad Salach O.F.M.
  Conv.  Interment, church cemetery.  Memorials to Windber Hospice
  would be appreciated.
