Smalley, 72, Jennerstown, died Nov. 6, 1980, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born March 16, 1908, in Jennerstown, son of William A. and Alice (Bryant) Smalley. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Malinda Chaplain, who died May 11, 1968; daughter, Dorothy Friedline Johnson, who died April 23, 1976; grandson, William Friedline; three sisters, Pearl; Pauline and Edith; brother, Russell. Survived by these children: James G., married to the former Jean Labb, Canton, Ohio; Cindy, wife of Patrick Weakland, Alexandria, Va.; Catherine, wife of Robert F. Walker, and Tom B., married to the former Cherie Pugh, both of Boswell RD 1; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Brother of Dearie, Chambersburg; Daisey, Bakersville; Alice, Hollsopple RD; Essie, Florida; Lucille, Johnstown. Member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, Pittsburgh.
