  Martha Theresa Smeak, 59, of Jacob's Place, Meyersdale, died of
  cancer Aug. 17, 2003 at her residence.  Born Feb. 26, 1944 in New
  Orleans, La. the daughter of the late Antoinette (Oubre) and Herbert
  Martinez Sr.  Also preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Martinez
  and Herbert Martinez Jr.  Survived by: Roger L. Smeak, her loving
  husband of nearly 35 years, whom she married on Sept. 15, 1969; sons:
  Gary Martinez, Somerset, and James Martinez, Bradford; daughters:
  Becky Gordon-Giron, Williamsburg, Va., Veronica Smeak and Heidi
  Leydig and husband Shawn, all of Meyersdale and Theresa Smeak,
  Boswell; grandchildren: Shawn and Allysha Martinez, Jimmy and Kandis
  Gordon-Giron, Ashley and James Baer, and Lance Leydig; brothers:
  Michael Martinez and wife Fay, Lebanon, Tenn. and Russell Blank and
  wife Louise, Moundville, Ala.; sisters: Peggy Lawhorn and  husband
  Donald, Placquemine, La. and Lydia Hinyub and husband Greg, Gretna,
  La. and sister-in-law Cathy Martinez.  Mrs. Smeak was a former cook
  for restaurants in Meyersdale and Somerset.  She was a member of the
  New Hope United Church of Christ, Meyersdale.  Friends will be
  received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler
  Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  Wednesday the time of funeral service with the Rev. Lamar Bender
  officiating.  Interment will be in Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.
