WILLIAM H. SMEARMAN

  Funeral services for William Henry Smearman, 85, retired farmer of Keyser's 
Ridge, who died on Thursday, January 3 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Melchoir 
Georg, were held in the English Lutheran Church at Cove, Sunday afternoon.  The 
pastor, Rev. W. Johns, officiated.  Interment was made in the Cove Cemetery.
  Mr. Smearman was the son of the late John Casper and Sara (Shoemaker) 
Smearman, and was a lifelong resident of Garrett County.  He was married to Lena 
Bach, who passed away several years ago.  Surviving are the following children: 
John S. Smearman of Woodland, Wash.; Mrs. Orval Jenkins, Friendsville; George 
Smearman, Addison, and Mrs. Melchoir Georg, Keyser's Ridge; also 23 
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and one brother, Lewis Smearman of 
Meyersdale.
