  SMILEY
  
    Miles E. Smiley Sr., 73, of Reading, Pa., formerly of Garrett RD 1,
  died March 8, 1997, in Reading Hospital.  Born June 26, 1923, in
  Garrett, a son of the late Earl W. and Ellen K. (Schaffer) Smiley. 
  Survived by his widow, Minerva (Burkholder) Smiley, and these
  children: Dale, Meyersdale RD 4; Earl, Tacoma, Wash.; Miles Jr.,
  Apple Valley, Calif.; Leroy, Rockwood; Robert, Friedens; David,
  Berlin, and Juanita Adams of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren. 
  Brother of Blaine, Berlin; James, Baltimore; Marion Hepler, Reading,
  and Mary Thompson of Mason, Ohio.  Veteran of World War II.  Friends
  will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Leckemby Funeral Home,
  where the service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Sherman H.
  Berkey.  Interment, Center Church Cemetery.
