   Richard "Rick" D. Smindak Jr., 36, Berlin, formerly of Portage, died Feb. 14, 2007, at
  Somerset Hospital. Born April 24, 1970, in Johnstown, the son of Richard D. Sr. and
  Kathleen "Kay" (Helsel) Smindak. Survived by parents, Portage; son, Richard D. "Ricky"
  Smindak III, Salisbury; companion, LeAnn Zimmerman, Berlin; and ex-wife, Rebecca
  (Nadolsky) Smindak, Salisbury. Brother of John Smindak, married to the former Jennifer
  Burton, Johnstown; and Amy Popish, Portage. Also survived by niece, Sarah Popish and
  nephew Jacob Popish. Employed as a supervisor for Cleveland Bros., formerly Beckwith
  Machinery, in Somerset. A 1988 graduate of Portage Area High School and a graduate of
  Ohio Diesel Technical School. Certified motorcycle instructor and an avid motorcycle
  rider and skier. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Saturday at the Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, where a funeral service and
  committal prayers will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Jerry Zuvers officiating.
