  ALBERT J. SMITH
  
    Albert J. Smith, 81, Accident, Md., died Wednesday, December 27,
  1989, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
    Born November 23, 1908, in Accident, Md. he was a son of the late
  Philip and Ella (Bowser) Smith.
    Mr. Smith retired with 45 years service as a heavy equipment
  operator for the Maryland State Highway Administration.  He was a
  member of Zion Lutheran Church, a charter and honorary member of
  Accident Fire Department and a member of Maryland Classified
  Employees Association and Woodmen of the World Camp 45, Friendsville,
  Md.  He and his wife celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary October
  21.
    Surviving are his wife, Alice (Deal) Smith; two sons: Carroll E.
  Smith, Oakland, Md.; and James A. Smith, Accident, Md.; three
  brothers: Paul Smith, Playford Smith and Melvin Smith, all of
  Accident, Md.; two sisters: Rosie Moon, Accident, Md.; and Mary
  Nickelson, Confluence; and three grandsons.
    Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md.,
  where services were conducted there on Saturday by the Rev. Wilfred
  Karsten.  Interment, Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
