Mrs. Smith, a sister of the late Miss Gertrude Hone, who was well known here, was a daughter of William F. and Mary Nathan Hone. She was born near Selbysport Aug. 9, 1867, and was 73 years of age. For years she lived in the Friendsville and Oakland communities and later moved to Warren. She was the widow of William H. Smith, a Civil War veteran. Surviving are one brother, J. Clarence Miller, Grantsville, three sisters, Mrs. Truman H. Frankhouser, Keyser, W.Va.; Mrs. John Mathews, Youngwood, Pa.; and Mrs. Blanche Osborn, Hanna City, Ill., a niece, Mrs. P. A. Connolly, New York City, and a nephew, Clyde J. Miller, Grantsville. Mrs. Smith had expressed a wish some time ago that her body be brought to Grantsville and laid to rest beside her mother and sister and the Winterburg Ambulance went to Warren to bring the remains here. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning by Rev. Father Hilary Liehr, pastor of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, and interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery in compliance with her wishes. Pallbearers were Stewart Rodamer, Harvey Gortner, Joseph Keefe, V. Llewellyn Blocher, Joseph F. Fahey and Thomas B. McKenzie. Meyersdale Republican, November 7, 1940
