  SMITH
  
  Betty J. Smith, 78, of Berlin, died Sept. 19, 2002, at Somerset
  Hospital.  Born Aug. 11, 1924, in Glencoe, she is the daughter of
  James and Ella (Mishler) Cook Bittner.  Preceded in death by her
  parents, granddaughter Megan Rose Smith and 13 half brothers and
  sisters.  Survived by her husband of 59 years, S. Ray Smith; sons,
  David, married to the former Patty Mothersbaugh; Gary, married to the
  former Darlene Hoffman, Edwin, married to the former Sondra Madey, all
  of Berlin; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many
  nieces and nephews.  She was retired from Snyder of Berlin, graduate
  of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, class of 1942, member of Mt.
  Olivet United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Mt. Olivet
  Ladies Aid.  She richly enjoyed her family, grandchildren, gardening,
  flowers and cooking.  Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7
  to 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will
  be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Joseph Onder officiating. 
  Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions
  may be sent to the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, c/o 14 North
  St. Meyersdale, Pa. 15552.
