He was born April 10, 1934, in Buffalo Mills a son of the late Henry Edward and Josie Ann (Shroyer) Smith. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Marcelle and two brothers; George Allen and Charles Edward. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Deist) Smith. He is a brother of Harold Earl, Ellerslie; Md., Merle Homer, Cresaptown, Md.; Peggy Ann, Bedford; Glenn Alvin, Flat Rock, Mich.; Ray Eugene, Jennerstown; Walter Lee, Buffalo Mills; and Linda Kay, Schellsburg. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws; Ruth McNelly and Edna Deist. He was a retired employee of the Bethlehem Steel Co. where he started to work May 5, 1952, and retired June 30, 1983. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union and the National Rifle Association. Friends will be received Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, where a service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Ralph Landis officiating. Interment will be held in the Mt.
