Smith, 63, of Smithfield, died on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Uniontown Hospital. She was born on November 23, 1942, in Charleston, S.C., a daughter of the late Maurice and Leola Gildea. She was preceded in death by sisters: Nancy, Jean and Bridget; and one brother, Maurice. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Archie L. Smith, who she married in Winchester, Va; and four children: Gary Carl, married to Brenda, Hollidaysburg; Don Carl, married to Angela, Wilmington, N.C.; Kelly, married to Bobby, Salisbury; Nancy, married to James Lafferty, Duncansville; 11 grandchildren: Jamie, Jimmy, Skylar, Jessa, Hahli, Helena, Alexis, Dylan, Blaine, Jonah and Thomas; one great-grandson, Trenton; several nieces and nephews; and brother and sister-in-laws. Mrs. Smith was a member of High House Church of God, Smithfield, where she served as Sunday School Teacher and President of Ladies Ministries. She was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and worked as a Nurses Aid until her retirement. She enjoyed serving the Lord and the church. Friends were received from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service, Thursday, at Long-Akers Funeral Chapel, Saxton, Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, (today), at Long-Akers Funeral Chapel with Rev. G. Dayton Sines officiating. Burial was held at Dudley Protestant Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Smith to High House Church of God, 1156 Walnut Hill Road, Smithfield, PA 15478.
