  SMITH
  
  Charles W. "Bud" Smith, 72, of 312 Cumberland St., Berlin, died Aug.
  11, 1987, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  He was born Oct. 7, 1914,
  in Connellsville, a son of William and Mary (McDonough) Smith. 
  Preceded in death by parents; brothers James M. and Harry M.; and
  sisters Betty Walters and Anna Jean.  Survived by his wife, the
  former Mary Ester Vought, and these children: J. William of
  Hollsopple; Mrs. Carl (Nancy) Bittner of Berlin; and Thomas G. of
  Bethel Park; also four grandchildren.  He was a retired employee of
  the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.  He was a member of Trinity
  United Church of Christ.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9
  p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home where services
  will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Carl W. Schwarm
  officiating.  Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
