  SMITH
  
    David Herbert Smith, 66, of Friedens RD 1 died Aug. 2, 1995, at
  Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  Born March 16, 1929, in
  Somerset.  Son of the late James Harold and Eva May (Shaffer)
  Smith.  Also preceded in death by wife, the former Annette Goebel; a
  daughter, Stephanie Diane Smith, and a granddaughter, Danielle Beth
  Veres.  Survived by daughters: Mrs. Rick (Linda) Veres, Stoystown RD
  2; Mrs. James (Kathleen) Brant, Mauldin, S.C.; and Ms. Carla
  Livingston, Stoystown.  Grandchildren Adam and Nicholle Veres and
  Valerie and Julia Brant.  Also an uncle, Vernon C. Shaffer of
  Somerset.  Maintenance man for Stoystown Tank & Steel.  U.S. Army
  veteran of Korean War.  1946 graduate of Somerset High School. 
  Member of VFW Post 554 and American Legion Post 181.  Friends will be
  received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral
  Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday,
  Dr. Jan. R.J. deVries and the Rev. Robert G. Doyle officiating. 
  Interment, Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to
  the charity of the donor's choice.
