  SMITH
  
    Edward J. Smith, 67, of Bedford, died May 24, 1994, at his
  residence.  Born April 29, 1927, in Johnstown.  Son of the late
  Edward A. and Susanna (Cowan) Smith.  Preceded in death by two
  sisters and one brother.  Survived by his wife, the former Joan
  McGuinn, and three children: Thomas E., married to the former Mary
  Pusateri, Pittsburgh; Mark R., married to the former Holly Burket,
  Bedford RD 1, and Kathleen S., wife of Douglas Bell, Berlin; also
  four grandchildren and three brothers: George of Harrisburg, William
  of Pittsburgh, and Francis of Johnstown.  Friends will be received
  from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home,
  Bedford, where wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday.  Mass of
  Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in
  Bedford, with Father John C. Vago officiating.  Interment, church
  cemetery.  Contributions to the Leukemia Society, 2 Gateway Center,
  Suite 13 North, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.
